What will you be doing?

Serves as subject matter expert, possessing in-depth knowledge of service provider networks.

Possess the ability to provide technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation for networks supporting Voice, Video, and Data services.

Technologies include optical transport, ODXC (optical digital cross-connect), TDM(time division multiplexing), Circuit to Packet networks. An understanding of IP, MPLS, ATM, and Frame Relay networks, network management applications and associated databases.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Provides analysis related to the design, development, and integration of hardware, software, man-machine interfaces and all system level requirements to provide an integrated IT solution.
• Develops integrated system test requirement, strategies, devices and systems. Directs overall system level testing.
• Participates as needed in all phases of planning, analysis, testing, integration, documentation, and presentation phases.
• Applies principles, methods and knowledge of the functional area of capability to specific customer requirements, advise on methods to exceptionally difficult and narrowly defined technical problems in engineering to arrive at automated solutions.
• Legacy SONET/Optical technology refresh including but not limited to ODXC and MSPP devices on the DISN
• Access to management and tools to conduct virtual site surveys including but not limited to OSS and WWOLS-R systems IOT identify workflows in:
• Service design
• Service order and management service provisioning as related to this project
• Service quality management
• The development of Systems Engineering Designs to design and record the following:
• High level topology
• Node installation overview
• Port and services tables
• Circuit tables
• Revision history
• Evaluate automation opportunities to improve maintenance of system engineering designs, associated tools and databases.
• Evaluate and propose technology, solutions and strategy to assist in the replacement of legacy technology.

Requirements:

• Must have 5 years of enterprise IT/System Engineering experience.
• Active Secret Clearance is needed to start.
• Knowledge of the following technologies include (Synchronous Optical Network) SONET optical transport, ODXC (optical digital cross-connect), TDM(time division multiplexing), Circuit to Packet networks.
• An understanding of IP, MPLS, ATM, and Frame Relay networks, network management applications, and associated databases.
• Experience designing and implementing complex IP routing scenarios (Including OSPF, BGP, BFD, and MPLS)
