Who We Are
Western States Contracting is a restoration company with over forty years of experience in the industry. We specialize in asphalt paving, concrete sidewalks, curbs and paving, retaining walls, seeding and sodding, erosion and sediment control, materials delivery and removal, concrete sawing.
Who You Are
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a driver and asphalt laborer. We drive internationals, freightliners (automatics) and tandem dump trucks. There will be union benefits offered.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned truck
• Loading and securing proper loads
• Offloading the truck and gathering tools for the day.
• Transporting tools to the jobsite.
• Sweeping and cleaning the area in front of the paver.
• Measuring and lining out the area for the day's paving.
• Saw cut, lay asphalt, rake, roll and tack
• Transporting water to the rollers, power broom, and plate compactor.
• Maintaining jobsite cleanliness and packing equipment away at the end of the day.
• Able to labor and assist crew when asked, not just drive truck
• Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,001 lbs.
• Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.
• Safely and efficiently haul material and equipment to and from job sites
• Communicate with dispatch as needed
• Confirm contents of each load matches the manifest document
• Perform proper pre-trip inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
• Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
• Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean and maintained
• Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
• Adhere to company rules and regulations
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
• Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
• Make safety a priority at all times

Requirements
Class A Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Valid Class A or Class B driver's license in process or completed
• Clean driving record with no major moving violations within the last 3 years
• Must pass a background check and drug test
• Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
• Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
• Physically and mentally fit
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly
• Proficient using GPS and other routing systems

Salary Description

$24.30-$34 per hour
