We are looking for a Controller in our GovCon practice to provide hands-on administration, oversight, and guidance to clients in the Washington DC metro area. The Controller will manage client relationships, deliverables, and schedules and lead a group providing full accounting and forecasting support, ensuring compliance with GAAP, FAR, and DCAA procedures and standards. GovCon Controller Responsibilities
Manages day-to-day activity of accounting services for assigned clients; responsible for project management of accounting schedule; manages all audits (e.g., DCAA, CPA, etc.)
Working with Junior Staff members, maintains complete control of the balance sheet
Develops indirect rate structures, budgets, forecasts, and incurred cost submissions, and general ledger
Provides recommendations on forward pricing exercises
Prepares and reviews monthly financials including forecast and supporting schedules
Conducts research and analysis on financial statements and variance analysis, provides input as needed, and troubleshoots system errors
Develops briefs for clients on results, forecasts, and opportunities for improvement. In conjunction w/CFO Advisor, help CEOs with decision-making in providing financial outcomes for alternative scenarios
Responsible for Job cost and Contract Reporting for Government Contracts
Serves as a resource to staff on problem-solving complex issues
Manages relationships with clients and external parties, including banking relationships and auditors
Handles tasking with minimal oversight
Qualifications
7 years of progressive accounting experience required; proficiency with general ledger, job costing, GAAP compliance a must
Highly organized. Tedious about record-keeping, file organization, etc.
Able to handle competing deliverables with various levels of complexity.
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to manage and ensure the quality of work of support staff
Strong problem-solving aptitude required; must be able to analyze client needs & leverage accounting systems effectively to create value to customers
Travel to customer locations required in the Washington Metropolitan area
Extremely computer literate, strong MS Excel, MS Word skills are a must.
Motivated - A self-starter with the ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and take initiative.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects within cost and schedule.
Bachelor's degree in accounting desired
Strong understanding of Government contracting including compliance with the FAR, DCAA Compliance, and indirect rates; knowledge of Unanet and QuickBooks desired
US Citizenship required to be eligible for security clearance to support cleared clients
