We are actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in either Herndon or Chantilly, VA. In this pivotal role, you will engage in the design and development of both new and existing software products, tackling complex software development and enhancement projects. You will be a critical player in building scalable data platforms, leveraging your extensive experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science, and data products. The role demands strong technical expertise across a range of big data and configuration management technologies, with a demonstrated ability to deliver scalable solutions adept at managing extensive data sets. Core Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and refine enterprise-wide systems and software applications.
• Enhance and construct complex data flows, improving existing data pipelines.
• Explore and evaluate new technologies to optimize application performance.
• Employ agile methodologies throughout the software development life cycle.
• Provide support and iterative improvements to existing systems and platforms.
• Work collaboratively with a diverse team of data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineering professionals. Essential Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum six years of experience in software engineering.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C /Rust (willingness to learn Rust is expected).
• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Technical Expertise:
• Experience with automation tools like Maven and Jenkins.
• Development of APIs and services using REST, SOAP, etc.
• Proficiency with Elasticsearch and various relational databases. Preferred Experience:
• Practical experience with distributed systems, such as Hadoop, Elastic, Spark, EMR, Databricks.
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud services including EC2, S3, SQS, SNS, VPC, ELB.
• Understanding of server operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
• Comprehensive knowledge of database systems and methodologies.
