Overview / Job Summary: 

A member of the Office of Student Engagement team, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement contributes to a comprehensive campus activities program that advances the co-curricular mission of the College by creating opportunities for students to make connections with their academic and out-of-classroom experiences. The Assistant Director of Student Engagement is responsible for oversight of Recognized Student Organizations (RSO), the creation of the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and will help to coordinate special events and social programming at all campus locations, and assist with student leadership and training programs, and manage a variety of special projects. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the coordinating, planning, and implementing of Student Engagement programs and events. 
  • Acts as a liaison, trainer, and information resource to RSO advisors, new and existing student organizations, and College departments. 
  • Assists with training and coordination of department student leaders and student workers.
  • Tracks and monitors student participation.
  • Develops and maintains CAB. 
  • Promotes and encourages student involvement and participation in planned student activities/events to enhance the student’s campus experience and encourage student interaction 
  • This role involves handling paperwork for events and activities, including forms, vendor packets, and contracts. Participate in the Title IX process as an investigator or advisor. Engage in committee assignments as requested and stay updated with professional student affairs standards and practices. 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in college student affairs or a related field in higher education. 
  • Experience with campus student event planning. 
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. 
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to accommodate the activities related to job responsibilities.
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations. 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner. 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications, strong Microsoft Office skills. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
