Procurement Buyer/Planner Scope of position:The Buyer/Planner Role is responsible for the procurement and supply of packaging components to ensure continuity of supply to business operations. This position in responsible for sourcing components consistent with organizational requirements for quality, service and pricing. This includes evaluating and developing strategic supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, assessing risk and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. This position drives value creation for the organization through vendor collaboration, dependable component availability to operations and optimized inventory management. This role requires collaboration with multiple internal functions and externally with the supplier/customer base to ensure appropriate inventories are maintained to minimize cash impact while ensuring component availability to operations.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Hybrid
Experience/Competencies : Procurement/Supply Chain experience a plus; Strong oral and written communication skills; Demonstrated levels of achievement in career/academics/athletics; Proficient in basic computer/software skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
Duties:
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develops category sourcing strategy to ensure market competitiveness, supply continuity, risk management and value creation for current and potential business
- Analyzes data to anticipate material demands, maintain appropriate inventory levels and execute associated purchase orders
- Ensures record keeping consistent with applicable industry or governmental regulations
- Develops vendor relationships and sets vendor KPIs and goals, using scorecards for accountability and performance tracking
- Monitors and understands market pricing trends on relevant cost drivers
- Develops clear SMART goals aligned with business goals and individual growth plans

Duties:
- Develops category sourcing strategies to ensure market competitiveness, supply continuity, risk management and value creation for current and potential business.
- Analyzes data to anticipate material demands, maintain appropriate inventory levels and execute associated purchase orders. Expedites purchase orders as required and communicates to sales and production scheduler of any shortfalls.
- Develops supplier relationships, including accountability for missed delivery dates and especially quality issues; Requires corrective actions and invoice credits for out of specification materials when appropriate.
- Monitors and understands market pricing trends on relevant cost drivers.
- Attends weekly customer meetings and provides updates on any material issues and impact this may have on production schedule.
- Process purchase orders for third party manufacturers (co-packers), maintain appropriate inventory levels and on-time deliveries.
- Assist in maintaining supplier approval program and process new suppliers as policy dictates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
