Position Summary

Designs, implements and enhances industrial material handling systems that deliver exceptional customer value. Works closely with the overall project team to design systems that exceed the project requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to tailor standard product offerings to meet customer needs. Leads project work and provide direction to less-senior team members.

Responsibilities
    Performs diverse, specialized and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibility
  • Designs and enhances conveyor systems, various automated and semi-automated material handling systems, static and dynamic storage systems, mezzanines, and modules
  • Reviews customer specifications and scope documentation for quotation and clarification
  • Estimates costs and develops bills of material for proposals and orders
  • Prepares, reviews, and coordinates drawings for proposals, approvals, and installation
  • Generates AutoCAD drawings from instructions and sketches
  • Performs process checks and reviews the output by other team members
  • Travels to project sites up to 30%
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in engineering design and project execution, preferably in the material handling industry
  • Intimate knowledge of Daifuku and/or industry related ASRS equipment
  • Knowledge of industrial automation a plus
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills
  • Ability to speak Japanese is a plus
  • Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers
  • Ability to lead work teams and projects effectively
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
