Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Computational Biology to lead the computational biology team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational methods, data science, and their application to oncology and immunology. The Director of Computational Biology will play a pivotal role in driving the integration of computational approaches with experimental biology to advance our drug discovery and development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead and mentor a team of computational biologists and bioinformaticians.
  • Develop and execute computational strategies that align with the company’s research goals in oncology and immunology.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate computational insights into the overall research and development strategy.

Research & Development:

  • Design and implement computational workflows for analyzing high-throughput omics data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
  • Develop and apply machine learning algorithms and statistical models to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
  • Oversee the integration of multi-omics data to enhance our understanding of disease mechanisms and drug responses.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with experimental biologists, chemists, and clinical researchers to interpret computational findings and guide experimental design.
  • Communicate complex computational results to non-specialist stakeholders effectively.
  • Foster collaborations with academic and industry partners to stay at the forefront of computational biology advancements.

Technology & Innovation:

  • Drive the adoption of new computational tools and technologies to enhance data analysis and visualization.
  • Ensure best practices in data management, reproducibility, and computational workflows.

Project Management:

  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company goals.
  • Manage resources, budgets, and timelines for computational biology initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics, with a focus on oncology and/or immunology.
  • Proven track record in leading computational biology teams and projects.
  • Experience in drug discovery and development in a biopharmaceutical or academic setting is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C .
  • Extensive experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
  • Strong background in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Expertise in analyzing high-throughput sequencing data and multi-omics integration.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
