Xenia Community Schools is Hiring a Publications Technician Near Xenia, OH

The vacancy listed below is posted in compliance with the negotiated agreement between the Xenia Education Support Professionals and the Xenia Community Schools Board of Education.
Employment Status: Full Time (12 month - 260 days); 8 hours daily - Monday - Friday
Reports to: Director of Technology
Benefits include: Health, Dental, Vision & Life Insurance
Hourly Rate: $17.87-$20.78
General DescriptionOperate one or more of a variety of office machines.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 18 years of age or older and must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Familiar with computers and web-based software
  • Willingness to learn new technology
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, politeness and professionalism
  • Have secretarial and /or clerical training and/or experience
  • Experience with the operation of copiers and/or bindery printing equipment
  • Have the ability to type a minimum of forty (40) words per minute with accuracy
  • Must have aptitude for record keeping and filing
  • Must be careful about details and thorough in completing work tasks
  • Demonstrate professional behavior with a strong adherence to confidentiality
  • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Must obtain and maintain Bloodborne Pathogens training
  • Meet the legal requirements relative to a criminal background check
Essential Functions
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, students, and parents; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse
workplace and with a diverse client population.
  • Maintain and inventory all supplies, materials and equipment required for the publication room operation.
  • Configures and manages production printers and copiers using appropriate resources for each job. Configures job-processing settings, manage job queues, process files, and print jobs per
the end user's specifications.
  • Schedules and manages the document manufacturing process, which includes: Job entry requirements confirmation, document manufacturing, workflow planning, quality assurance.
  • Checks files for completeness and specification accuracy before producing the job. Items to check include fonts, image resolution, and registration. Problem areas will be professionally
communicated.
  • Provides consultation to optimize document design for quality and manufacturability. Provide desktop publishing and design services for color, monochrome, and web documents.
Apply specialized color and monochrome process knowledge to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Produce job samples (proofs) for review and approval when requested before beginning a client's job.
  • Document quality is checked before, during, and after each production run of a job. If required, unique quality specifications are agreed upon, documented, and checked against.
  • Sort and distribute central office, United States and intra-school mail
  • Keep a monthly accounting of copy totals including related printing expenses, monthly invoices for schools, departments, and individuals
  • Monitor machine operation, and basic machine troubleshooting to ensure proper operation
  • Operate auxiliary machines such as collators, pad and tablet-making machines, staplers and folding, cutting, and punching machines
  • Process Web Document submission enabling users to submit job files electronically for print production.
  • Assist with recommendations in resolving issues within submitted files (PDF Format) to ensure ideal quality when applicable
  • Subscribe to the annual evaluation procedures
  • Perform other duties pertinent to operation as assigned by the Superintendent or the Superintendent's designee
  • Abide by all Xenia Community School District policies
Other Duties And Responsibilites
  • Must complete all additional required district staff development within 60 calendar days of notification
  • Ability to handle complaints and/or irate persons
Additional Working ConditionsOccasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions
Salary is in line with the respective salary schedule.
