Y.A.P.A. Apartment Living Program Inc is Hiring an IDD Lead Residential Advisor Near Cordova, TN

Our Mission:

Enable individual persons who have serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorder and/or a dual diagnosis of SMI and IDD live a life that is meaningful to them in the community on terms they define.

Title: IDD Lead Residential Advisor (Lead RA) 

Summary of Job Description:

Provide oversight and direct support of Member residential living arrangements, including safety, cleanliness, and overall environment of recovery. Implement and document each members’ Behavior Support Plan (BSP) and any activities recommended by the Treatment Team. Oversee medication room and documentation of Member medications. Provide supervision and oversight to Residential Advisors.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide the level of support/assistance each member needs to complete activities of daily living (ADLs)..
  • Provide and document supervision and training to Residential Advisors 
  • Ensure completion of facilities and medication management activities, including (but not limited to) the following:
    1. Fire Drills
    2. Disaster Drills
    3. Residential Checklist
    4. Medication Room Checklist
    5. Van Checklist
    6. Refrigerator Temperature Log
  • Daily review of medication room and documentation of medication administration and medication logs.
  • Implement and document Member interventions and progress relative to Member Behavior Support Plan (BSP) and Treatment Plan as it pertains to medication and ADLs.
  • Complete Incident Reports in accordance with processes outlined by the Managed Care Organization (MCO), County, State and Project Transition Policy and Process.
  • Complete all shift notes and other interactions with Members and document in DAP format by the end of your covered shift.
  • Facilitate/ Co-facilitate all groups/activities as assigned and complete documentation within 24 hours of facilitating.
  • Transport Members to appointments and activities.
  • Support with observation of Member alcohol and drug screenings and document observations by the end of the covered shift (if applicable).
  • Participate in phone coaching/ crisis management process, which includes (but is not limited to):
    1. Orienting Member and family to phone coaching process.
    2. Carry and respond to coaching phone calls on days assigned, including being available to go onsite for emergencies during hours when there is no or minimal staff coverage.
    3. Provide coverage for staff callouts.
    4. Following incident reporting and documentation process for all on-call emergencies.
  • Support Members with activities of daily living including (but not limited to) the following:
    1. Daily oversight and coaching of daily living activities. Hands on assistance may be provided to members to complete ADLs, based on person-centered assessments of their skills and needs.
    2. Observing Member self-administration of medication. If member requires medication administration, the RA will complete this in accordance with their level of training.
    3. Support with the development of socialization/ communication skills, leisure skills, conflict resolution, de-escalation skills, and utilization of crisis supports.
    4. Support with meal planning, menu development, food shopping and meal preparation.
    5. Encourage and support health and home safety practices.
    6. Support with navigation of public transportation services, when a member is deemed ready
  • Complete continuing educational requirements as aligned with regulatory compliance.
  • Attend individual supervision sessions and program meetings as scheduled by direct supervisor.
  • Support with hiring and ongoing evaluation of Residential Advisors.
  • Ensure documentation of all Member engagements iscompleted within 24 hours.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director/Behavior Analyst.

Additional Performance Expectations:

  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team and will support and implement interventions and directives as directed by the Team.
  • Always demonstrate compassion and concern when supporting a Member through embracing Project Transition and PCS Mental Health’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Approach Member engagement from a non-judgmental stance understanding that a Member’s behavior is driven by experience, which may include trauma.
  • Treat and speak to Members with supportive kindness even when a Member demonstrates intense behavioral or emotional actions. Staff will show Members dignity and respect for their values and lifestyles.
  • Seek out appropriate support, consultation with Clinician or Psychiatrist (if applicable), in conjunction with the Program Director or obtain supervision, when uncertain about how to respond or support a Member effectively.
  • Report back to the Treatment Team any observations of Member behavior that suggests Member may need additional treatment interventions and/or support.
  • Engage with all external parties/ individuals with professionalism and with a positive customer service approach, understanding that they are always representing the organization.
  • An understanding of an agreement to value the concepts of a Trauma Informed workplace

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • One year supervisory experience preferred.
  •  Experience with medication oversight/observation
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in oral and written work
  • Ability and willingness to have fun in the workplace.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid Driver’s license
