POSITION: YAKAMA NATION FARMS – HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

ANNOUNCEMENT: OPEN UNTIL FILLED

WAGES: DOQ – Full-time/Regular Salary/Exempt

TITLE: Human Resources Manager

ENTITY: Yakama Nation Farms

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Manager, (HR Manager), is responsible for the planning, directing, and supervision of the Yakama Nation Farms’ Human Resources functions. The HR Manager directly participates in the development of Farm HR policies and procedures and provides guidance regarding policy to the employees of Yakama Nation Farms. The HR Manager provides support to department supervisors, managers and directors to ensure that all necessary functions are completed in a timely and organized manner. The HR Manager will also be responsible for coordinating and implementing the Yakama Nation Farms benefits and incentives plans.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The HR Manager will be directly supervised by the Farm General Manager.

· None

EXAMPLES OF Duties:

· Maintain thorough knowledge of Yakama Nation Farms personnel policies and procedures as outlined in the Yakama Nation Farms Employee Handbook.

· Provide department managers and supervisors with information and assistance regarding HR procedures.

· Responsible for reviewing all terminations and disciplinary actions to ensure consistency of policies.

· Monitor and process payroll for Yakama Nation Farms.

· Coordinate and review all HR reporting requirements and ensure timely submittal.

· Oversight of screening of new applicants to ensure that they are qualified for the position for which they are applying.

· Coordinate and perform on-boarding orientations for new hires.

· Set evaluation schedule annually for all departments. Reviews employee evaluations to ensure they are performed properly and responsibly.

· Responsible for administering the Yakama Nation Drug & Alcohol-free policy with includes scheduling pre-employment, post-accident, random and reasonable suspicion drug tests.

· Responsible for administering the employee benefits plans. Will set up and oversee benefit meetings, assisting employees and department managers with eligibility dates, processing paperwork for enrollment.

· Responsible for oversight and management of YN Farms’ Farmworker Housing facilities, including certification processes and employee assignments.

· Responsible for updating policies and procedure, employee incentives plans, job descriptions and announcements, assist in developing recruitment campaigns and training programs and participate in special projects.

· Must adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality.

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of Yakama tribal culture, people, and customs.

· Knowledge of Yakama Nation Tribal treaty laws, policies, and sovereignty.

· Proficiency of modern agriculture-based Human Resources practices, policies, planning and implementation.

· Experience with Yakama Nation, Federal, and State employment policies with the ability to implement as needed.

· Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and problem solving ability.

· Excellent written, speaking, and electronic communication and comprehension skills.

· Ability to develop spreadsheets for reports and prepare documents for electronic submittal.

· Ability to compile employee data and extrapolate information into appropriate report documents for review.

· Ability to address sensitive program matters in a confidential manner.

· Knowledge of Human Resources personnel recruitment, selection, training, and performance evaluation.

· Ability to work effectively with staff in a team-oriented environment.

· Ability to self-start, work independently, multitask, and meet multiple deadlines.

· Ability to demonstrate computer skills with knowledge of software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, Zoom/Teams.

· Ability to learn and implement several ag-centric HR management software programs.

· Ability to demonstrate dependability, integrity, and a professional attitude in all interactions with employees and general public.

· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in line with the responsibilities of the position.

· Ability to maintain professional decorum in high-stress situations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor of Arts/Science in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources, or 5-8 years high level Manager/Director level capacity with demonstrated successful experience with the ability to successfully carry out daily duties.

· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

· Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

· Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.

· Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check with previous employers and have no disqualifying felony convictions or other criminal history.
