Description

Purpose of the Role:

The Supply Chain Process Engineer Intern is responsible for analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement to enhance the overall performance of the supply chain. The Intern will learn how to maintain supply chain processes and assist the supply chain team in assuring the continual flow of raw materials, work in process, and finished goods through the entire supply chain. The Intern will have the opportunity to develop, standardize, and optimize standard operating procedures including visual aids and training materials to ensure compliance by all supply chain departments. This is a paid internship starting ta $24/hr for a 6 month duration.

Position: Full time (6-month duration)
Pay: $24.00 an hour

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct data analysis and develop models to identify potential bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement within the supply chain.
  • Design and implement supply chain strategies and processes to optimize inventory management, production planning, and distribution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, logistics, and customer development, to align supply chain activities and achieve overall business objectives.
  • Develop and implement forecasting models to improve inventory holding costs.
  • Work with the Logistics team to oversee transportation activities, including route planning, carrier selection, and freight negotiation, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Work with Inventory to continuously evaluate target inventory levels and distribution of finished goods to guarantee the on-time and in-full fulfillment of customer orders while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
  • Develop tools in cooperation with our 3PL partners to spotlight inbound/outbound product supply issues ensuring clarity between operations, customer development, finance on status of products, expected shipment and arrival dates, and insights to anything driving changes to plan.
  • Coordination with partners in sourcing, operations, warehouse to ensure the timely shipment and complete visibility of inbound/outbound product with the goal of maximizing in stock and OTIF rates across the network, while minimizing cost.
  • Work with the operations, development, and BI teams to build out tools and processes to drive transparent awareness throughout the organization around inbound/outbound product.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with established S.O.P.’s and ensure implementation. 
  • Evaluate departments' performance compliance to Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.’s) adjusting procedures and priorities as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with supply chain personnel concerning mutual problems.
  • Establish Statistical Process control (SPCs) for supply chain operations.
  • Continually monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain operations’ effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
  • Use Lean tools to develop techniques to drive change and continuous improvement of On-Time In-Full to achieve business results, via the day-to-day execution of key systems, minimizing the impact of shortages or late orders.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
  • Streamline and integrate supply chain activities with X3 to take advantage of the system capabilities.
  • Collaboration with other Area/Department Leaders to review & improve results.
  • Focus on key controllable costs.
  • Meet with department personnel on areas needing enhancement or modification.
  • Work with management to ensure supply chain employees follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Be a resource to the teams with the ability to answer questions regarding the execution of policies and procedures.
  • Focus every day to actively work on safety process to search any unsafe condition, report to management any unsafe conditions.
  • Enforce safety procedures, PPEs, food safety standards and company policies.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety rules.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and supply chain best practices to drive innovation and maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Work closely with the supply chain team to execute projects.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITY

  • Execute and monitor X3 activities by running key reports to assure accuracy. In the event of a discrepancy need to solve or re-direct error to appropriate IT support.
  • Process data in system according to processes and SOPs.

Qualifications


Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Supply Chain, Forecasting Strategies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of ERP Systems
  • Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Project management experience.

Physical Requirements:

For the role of Supply Chain Process Engineer Intern, some physical demands may include:

  • Warehouse environment: due to materials used, there is exposure to dusty materials; utilization of standard warehouse equipment which includes forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
