Job Description:
Administer the airfield by relying on comprehensive knowledge and experience of airfield operations to comply with PWS requirements. Reliance on excellent communication skills is essential to enable effective and safe administration of the airfield in compliance with Air Force and NATO regulations. Place of Performance is Ascension Auxiliary Airfield.
Qualifications:
Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience executing Airfield Management Operations Manager (AMOM) responsibilities and/or Shift Lead (AMSL) lead duties and responsibilities. Possess an USAF AMSL/AMOM certification (or have equivalent education and experience). Complete local training requirements (6-month grace period). The Advanced Airfield Managers (AAFM) course is preferred. Fluent in English language and valid driver’s license.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administer the operations and maintenance of the airfield per Air Force PWS requirements and regulations.
- Implement and coordinate airfield planning, inspections, and construction designs/diagrams, repairs and maintenance activities per FAA, ICAO and /or NATO criteria.
- Ensure and create a safe and secure working environment.
- Inspect the airfield environment for safety and compliance ensuring all operations are conducted in a safe manner.
- Assess, evaluate, coordinate and oversee daily airfield operations.
- Confirm airfield restrictions and closure requirements.
- Publish the Flight Information Publication (FLIP).
- Interact directly with pilots, air traffic control tower personnel, emergency crews and the civilian population.
- Perform primary Flight Information Publication Manager duties.
- Ensure that personnel performing BASH duties use wildlife control devices, including firearms, and other equipment.
- Process civil aircraft landing permits.
- Develop procedures for contractor personnel to receive training on airfield driving and safety requirements before starting work.
- Assures Airfield documentation is maintained.
- Report status to USAF AFM and Base Commander as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Safety (Personal Protection) Requirements:
May require hard hat, safety goggles, safety shoes, ear protection, Hard toed safety shoes or boots, safety glasses or goggles, gloves, etc (as required by task)
