What We Are Looking ForYazaki is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Components business unit in Canton, MI. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment, making lasting impacts on the organization. This position is hybrid.
What You Will Be Doing
- Assignments and Approvals: Complete assignments as assigned as an output from the Components business unit (ComBU) President Policy Program. Provide product approval authority to support the completion of APQP/PPAP deliverables. Support program and project management to obtain interim authorization approvals (IAA) for non-conforming products.
- Data Monitoring and Access: Monitor customer and supplier quality data (i.e., scorecards, QOS, BOS, QIPs, Claims, Part Mapping, etc) to manage and support assigned manufacturing locations. Maintain and procure access to customer and industry websites, portals, or collaboration systems.
- Notification and Problem-Solving: Receive advanced notification of component concerns from the department coordinator and/or directly from Yazaki North America Inc. wire harness business unit (i.e., FBU, GMBU, CBU, and TPNO). Ensure business units provide appropriate information, record it in department records (i.e., SharePoint), and facilitate resolution using practical problem solving (i.e., 5-Why, 7-8 Discipline, Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin, 6-Sigma).
- Audits and Assessments: Lead Process Sign-Off, Launch Readiness Assessments, and/or manufacturing site assessment audits (i.e., MSA, Q1) as assigned by management or an approved output from the President Policy Program or Component Business Unit Product Development System.
- Participation in Reviews and Meetings: Participate in design and product development reviews, feasibility and commitment assessments, and project/program meetings as required.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Quality, Engineering, or a related technical field
- SQE, AQE, CQE preferred
- 3-5 years of experience with suppliers quality, development engineering, plastic mold injection, stamping, rubber mold and ESD systems
- Travel: up to 50% international
- Ability to resolve issues by applying creative thinking
- Ability to think and act logically under pressure
- Ability to resolve issues or propose resolutions to responsible parties
- Must work independently and collaboratively
