ABOUT YINZCAM
YinzCam is a Carnegie Mellon University spin-off with its roots in distributed-systems research. Our digital products are used by tens of millions of sports fans, around the world, including fans of the NFL, NBA, MLS, NHL, English Premier League, LigaMX, AFL (Australia), and more.
AREAS OF FOCUS
As a Research Engineer at YinzCam, you will have a lead research role with a focus on distributed systems, distributed algorithms, fault-tolerant computing, operating systems, and related areas.
You will likely engage on one (or more) of these two applied-research projects, which would involve mentoring undergraduate/Master's students and writing research publications.
THE ROLE
This is an industrial R&D position, with the ability to conduct foundational research, gather real-world data, and also see ideas through to production in the hands of millions of users. The ability to author top-tier research publications is a must.
As a Research Engineer at YinzCam, you will be working on researching, developing, implementing, analyzing new algorithms and new systems techniques in massive cloud-hosted production environments. You will be building experimental testbeds and conducting user studies. You will be exploring the applications of machine-learning to distributed systems. You will be exploring the applications of LLMs to distributed systems. You will be working with undergraduate and Master's students on research projects and co-authoring research publications with other researchers.
The ideal candidate has a track-record of demonstrated independent research and innovation, has a track-record of publishing their ideas to well-known IEEE/ACM/USENIX systems conferences, has a track-record of real-world impact with applied research, has great verbal and written communication skills, and has a passion for seeing things deployed to production, and in the hands of real users.
THE REQUIREMENTS
A researcher at heart, and an implementor in practice, with the ability to tinker, build systems, tear them apart, understand them, and get the most out of them, while yet being able to bring in new ideas, to analyze research publications, to follow scientific methodology in research.
