YMCA - CHARLOTTE is Hiring an Associate Gymnastics Director: Harris YMCA Near Charlotte, NC

Under the supervision of Gymnastics Director and in cooperation with other YMCA staff and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Associate Gymnastics Director will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of all gymnastics classes, teams and camps.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for the implementation and coordination of gymnastics programming, as assigned.
  2. Responsible for supervision and safety of participants within the established guidelines.
  3. Provide direct support and leadership to the daily operation of the recreational gymnastics program and summer camp.
  4. Ensure that programs and services meet current members’ needs and develop new programs and events as appropriate and relevant to the community.
  5. Help manage departmental budget for the assigned areas within the approved budget guidelines.
  6. Assist the Gymnastics Director by supervising, training and developing gymnastics part-time staff.
  7. Develop and oversee shows for end of the season classes.
  8. Maintain effective relationships with children and parents and ensure that communications with program participants and families are clear and ongoing.
  9. Work with Gymnastics Director, as needed with various programming offerings.
  10. Effectively implement the branch quality control processes within the department
  11. Maintain all equipment, rooms and other programs areas that are used throughout the program day.
  12. Represent the YMCA in a professional manner.
  13. Support the Gymnastics Director with other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires an individual with an enthusiastic personality who can develop harmonious relationships with staff, members, and volunteers. He/she must present a professional image including:

  1. Must have a minimum of three years experience working with various types of programs at the YMCA or a like organization.
  2. Must possess a 4 year degree in Physical Education, Recreation or equivalent experience.
  3. Experience reading and working within a budget.
  4. Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to present a professional image to parents, participants and the general public and the ability to develop harmonious relationships with staff members and community leaders.
  5. Must have an enthusiastic personality and be a positive role model for staff and participants.
  6. Must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  7. Certification in Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR/AED and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
  8. Must possess or be willing to obtain a USA Gymnastics Professional Membership.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Ability to work in excess of a 40-hour week with irregular work hours.
  2. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
  3. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  4. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 100 pounds in weight.
  5. Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  6. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  7. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
  8. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  9. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  10. Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
  11. Ability to work irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends.
  12. Fluent in English, written and verbal communication.
