POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Executive Director is the gatekeeper of all department heads which includes oversight, adequate staffing patterns/branch coverage, budget management and creating a culture of accountability throughout entire branch operation.

This is an interim position for the summer that is expected to last under 90 days.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the branch in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff members, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Continuously evaluate scope of programs to identify opportunities for growth to both existing and new programs to better serve the needs of members and participants.
  • Engage with businesses and community organizations in order to further the work of the YMCA.
  • Demonstrate the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility as role models in the YMCA and the community at large.
  • Develop and manage operating budget, forecast revenues, control expenses in conjunction with Executive Director.
  • Develop a culture within the staff and board for good fiscal responsibility.
  • Assist in the implementation of the long-range strategies developed by the Association and Branch strategic plan.
  • Help plan and execute philanthropic engagement in conjunction with staff and volunteers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Three years experience in related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience required.
  • Combination of Urban/Suburban work experience and experience with diverse cultural and backgrounds.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid PA driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.
  • Local travel required/occasional out of state travel

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Lifeguard certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
  • ACCT 1 certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
  • PA Amusement Park Ride Inspector certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
  • Ability to pass all necessary PA criminal and child sexual abuse background checks.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; climb ladders and poles; work at heights; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop and stand for extended periods, kneel, crouch, or crawl; swim; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Because this is an outdoor setting at camp, the employee must be comfortable and willing to work in seasonal outdoor weather conditions as operational and management duties may require.
  • The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
  • Some local travel is required with occasional long-distance travel for training and special events.

Candidates must have final Criminal Clearance certificates prior to starting employment. This includes PA Criminal Certificate, NSOR Verification, PA FBI - Use Code: 1kg738 and PA Child Abuse.

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $60,813.00 - $76,017.00 per year
