JOB TITLE: Membership Director

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

FLSA TYPE: Full-time, Exempt

JOB PURPOSE:

The Director of Membership will administer all functions related to membership. Oversees assigned departments/programs administering all functions with a direct focus on recruitment & retention of participants, program development, staff development, safety, & customer service. Must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):

• Ensures programs and services meet community needs.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all members, participants, and employees by interpreting and enforcing all policies established by the YMCA
• Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.
• Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration.
• Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.
• Ensures a level of service and engagement that fosters loyalty among those we serve.
• Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
• Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff in a clear, concise way. Coordinates with the association office as necessary on financial transactions.
• Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances
• Leads membership staff and volunteers effectively; recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams; onboards and develops them for success.

Requirements

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Outgoing, energetic, and engaging
• Knowledge of the YMCA as a membership organization
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the customer service industry
• Minimum 2 years’ experience managing staff
• Knowledge of recreational programming, marketing, and program implementation.

Preferred:

• YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
• Knowledge of budgeting & expense control
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification (will be provided upon employment).
