Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate Swim Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in sports coaching and a background in physical education to educate students in swimming techniques and water safety.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Provides direct leaderships, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Acts a liaison and champion for YMCA Programs. Provide the YMCA instruction for students about safety around water.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum age of 16.

· Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills.

· American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.

· Redwood Training for Aquatic Department.

· Must be available on days, evenings, and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with the YMCA guidelines, having prepared lessons plans accordingly.

· Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.

· Maintains record as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.)

· Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.

· Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

· Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.

· Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.

· Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
