Join the Nissokone team this summer! The Day Camp Director will be primarily responsible for the planning and execution of our summer day camp program. This position will help schedule the daily activities, supervise children ages 5-12, and manage other day camp staff.PAYMENT:Weekly stipend, on-camp food and lodging provided during working times. RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervising groups of campers between 5-12 years old in day camp programmingChecking campers in and out of day camp each dayPlanning and scheduling day camp activitiesFacilitating camp activities safely and with enthusiasmMaintaining professional conduct with campers and parentsHelping out in all areas of camp as necessaryManaging and working productively with day camp staff to create a great camp experience for our campersBehavior management of campersMaintaining a positive group dynamic within day camp and activity groupsProviding feedback to colleagues in order to collectively improve our programsHelping facilitate activities for weekend rental groups as necessaryIDEAL CANDIDATE:Makes the best of any situationStrong work ethic and moral responsibilityPrior managerial experience preferredPrior experience or interest in working with children from diverse backgroundsAbility to communicate and work with others effectivelyStrong problem solver and comfortable with conflict resolutionEnthusiastic and high-energyWilling to learn new skillsOpen-minded and willing to push his/her own comfort zoneCPR/First Aid certification preferred (training will be provided if not currently certified)WHO WE SERVE: YMCA Camp Nissokone serves youth and teens from Southeast and Northern Michigan and beyond. Our overnight and day camp program serves approximately hundreds of children each summer to experience all of the beauty and adventure that nature has to offer.
