About the Job
The Program Coordinator position is responsible for assisting with the management of specific programs, including: staffing, program development and delivery, budget, client record keeping and reporting. Responsible for direct delivery of services including providing coverage of program components when group leaders and instructors are absent. The Coordinator is under the guidance of the Director, helps to develop new programs and generates ideas to improve program quality and delivery.
Some of the exciting things you will do as a Program Coordinator include but are not limited to:
  • Supervises programs in designated areas; fills in for teachers/instructors/counselors, group leaders when they are absent
  • Plan, supervise, and implement various community program offerings, including but not limited to: after school academic program for middle school students, field trips and family events, sports mentoring, enrichment programs for high school students.
  • Works with Director to develop and implement new program offerings that serve youth, adults and families, which work towards the achievement of target outcomes.
  • Maintains and keeps organized records of staff recognition, achievements, certifications, discipline, training, and evaluation
  • Maintains and keeps organized records of client participation, progress and program outcomes. Prepares reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintains a proactive leadership role in the day-to-day program delivery, and keeps on the pulse of program needs of our participants, via survey, focus groups, and one-on-one conversation, and makes recommendations for new programming opportunities base on the results
  • Assists with the promotion and recruitment of program participants
  • Acts as liaison to schools and parents
  • Maintains and manages all program equipment in related areas
  • Works with Director to develop and implement new program offerings that serve youth, adults and families, which work towards the achievement of target outcomes.
  • Under the direction of the Director makes sure that programs are meeting budgeted expectations for both revenue and expenses
  • Maintains excellent customer service skills and a high level of professionalism when dealing with children, parents, members, volunteers, and the public
  • Works with the Director to provide appropriate training opportunities to allow staff to meet federal, state, and local (as well as YMCA of the USA recommended) standards and certifications
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications and Skills:
  • B.A. or B.S. in Human Services
  • Comparable experience may be considered as equivalent for satisfying educational requirement(s).
  • 2 or more years experience working with children and adults in an education/recreation environment
  • Experience in working with diverse populations and skilled at collaborating with multiple agencies
  • Ability to provide supervision and leadership in a variety of program areas such as: Homework Assistance, Recreation, Arts and Crafts, Reading groups, etc.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
