Salary Range: $134,265 to $179,020 annually (depending on experience)
Job Summary:
The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader for the position of Senior Vice President of Human Resources. This role is responsible for leading the overall HR strategy, aligning HR initiatives with the organization’s mission, and driving a culture of engagement, inclusivity, and excellence across the association. The Senior VP of HR will play a critical role in shaping the future of the YMCA by developing and executing human capital strategies that support our commitment to community impact, employee development, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive HR strategies that align with the YMCA’s mission and strategic goals. Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing expert counsel on all human resource matters.
Talent Management: Oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse and high-performing workforce. Lead initiatives in talent acquisition, succession planning, performance management, and employee development (full life cycle of the employee)
Culture and Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that emphasizes YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Drive employee engagement initiatives and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations. Develop and manage policies and procedures that mitigate risk and promote a safe, healthy, and productive work environment.
Compensation and Benefits: Oversee the design and implementation of competitive and equitable compensation and benefits program that attracts, retains, and motivates employees.
HR Operations: Lead and optimize HR operations, including HRIS, payroll, employee relations, and performance management systems. Drive continuous improvement in HR processes and systems to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
Leadership Development: Mentor and develop the HR team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Provide coaching and guidance to leaders across the organization to enhance their people management capabilities.
Organizational Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to drive organizational change initiatives, including workforce planning, leadership development, and employee engagement strategies that align with the YMCA’s long-term vision.
Education, Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree (preferred). Human Resources certifications such as SHRM-SCP or HRCI-SPHR (preferred).
Combined 10 years of progressive HR experience that includes a role in senior management.
Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and risk management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience with HRIS systems and data analytics.
Ability to lead through change and drive organizational transformation.
Passion for the YMCA’s mission and values.
