YMCA of Southern Maine is Hiring a Child Care Associate - Prime Time Near Biddeford, ME

We're seeking enthusiastic candidates to join the Y team in our Child Care department, specifically to support our Prime Time program. We have part-time openings with the following hours:

  • 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM (Monday-Friday)
  • 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Monday-Friday)

This position, working under the direction of the Youth Development Director, is responsible for conducting a safe, quality and age-appropriate small or large group experience for children and families in the Prime-Time program, consistent with the YMCA’s core values and the needs of participants and the community.

 Your responsibilities will include:

  • Relationship Building – Develop positive, authentic relationships within the Y that lead to greater awareness of the Y’s mission and impact, growth in number of people served, as well as revenue. Listens and expresses self effectively and with an understanding of the needs of a particular audience.
  • Personal Growth – Maintains a high degree of emotional maturity and interpersonal skills and is committed to personal growth and skill acquisition.
  • Operations & Safety – Ensures the health and safety of each child and follows all YMCA protocols and rules. Keeps group and program areas safe, clean and orderly. Ensures all equipment is in working order. Provides rapid and timely response to all accidents, situations, incidents and emergencies appropriately, calmly and professionally using proper techniques and completes incident reports as needed. Reports all concerns to the Director.
  • Data Tracking & Documentation –Maintains accurate and consistent data tracking and documentation, as required.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Experienced working with youth, preferred. 
  • Detail oriented; extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual.
  • CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certified (YMCA will train).
  • A criminal background check is required prior to hire. This will be paid for by the YMCA of Southern Maine.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. 

Salary 

$15.50 - $16.50/hour, depending on experience.
