YMCA of the Triangle is Hiring an Associate Vice President of Learning and Leadership Development-Full Time-YMCA of the Triangle Near Raleigh, NC

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Chief Strategy Officer, the Associate Vice President of Learning and Leadership Development, will lead the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive learning and leadership development programs to enhance the capabilities of the YMCA of the Triangle’s workforce. This strategic role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of adult learning principles, leadership development, and organizational development. The Associate Vice President of Learning and Leadership Development will drive initiatives that foster a culture of continuous learning, leadership excellence, and employee engagement, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, values, and strategic goals. The incumbent will also provide leadership to Y-USA’s Learning Center of the Carolina’s ensuring service delivery to all Y’s in North and South Carolina.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategy Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a forward-thinking learning and leadership development strategy that supports the organization’s growth, transformation goals and diversity of workforce.
  • Align learning and development programs with business objectives, ensuring measurable outcomes and return on investment.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, integrating innovative approaches to enhance learning and leadership initiatives.

Program Development and Management:

  • Design, develop and deliver a diverse portfolio of learning programs, including executive education, coaching, and mentoring, leadership development, and skills training.
  • Oversee competency frameworks, learning pathways, and development plans tailored to various roles and career stages within the organization.
  • Evaluate and select external vendors and partners to complement internal capabilities and resources.
  • Lead YOTA Learning Center of the Carolina’s to ensure equitable, high-quality training and service delivery to Ys in North and South Carolina.

Organizational Development:

  • Lead efforts to assess and enhance organizational culture, employee engagement, and change management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to identify and address leadership and talent development needs, ensuring a robust pipeline of future leaders.
  • Work cross departmentally to ensure all training and development meets standards and expectations for training design and delivery.

Performance Measurement and Improvement:

  • Develop metrics and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness and impact of learning and development programs/curriculum/learning experiences, individual learning needs, and organizational capacity building opportunities.
  • Utilize data and feedback to continuously improve program/curriculum/learning experiences and ensure they meet the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Report on key performance indicators and outcomes for executive leadership and other key stakeholders.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of learning and development professionals.
  • Recruit and lead Y-USA training teams; ensuring trainers are skilled, supported, challenged, engaged and appreciated.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that promotes innovation, professional growth, and high performance.
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with strategic priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ degree required, preferably in Education, Organizational Development, Human Services, Adult Learning, Adult Psychology, or similar field(s). Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in a Learning, Training and/or Leadership Development setting with demonstrated experience in applying adult learning theories and training methodologies to assess, develop, design, and evaluate results/changes in behaviors.
  • Experience with service delivery in multiple states or statewide preferred.
  • Ability and experience in identifying and recommending business needs or process improvement ideas that tie into learning and development programs and solutions.
  • Strong virtual and in-person training, coaching, and facilitation skills utilizing various platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) and/or a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact and coach people at all levels; proven ability in influential leadership and developing strong rapport with staff.
  • Experience developing learning environments or using tools/training (IDI, Climate) that meet the needs of a diverse workforce.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
