RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ESPORTS ASSISTANT:

• Positively represents the YMCA and maintains appropriate relationships with members, parents and youth.
• With the Program Director of ESports assists in recruitment and retention of participants for the ESports program.
• Conducts coaching and instruction activities during training, practice and competition.
• Ensures team compliance with all league rules and regulations.
• Keeps accurate scoring for all games during Competition nights.
• Assists in evaluation of the ESports programs.
• Assists in monitoring the department’s equipment inventory and ensures effective, safe use. Notifies Program Director of ESports of any equipment malfunctions, needed repairs or misuse.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE AN ESPORTS ASSISTANT:

• 18 years of age preferred 15 years of age with Branch Exec approval.
• At least six months competitive ESports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and expert knowledge of Rocket League, NBA 2K, Smash Brothers, or similar games.
• Comfortability with PC, console, and mobile gaming and equipment– spanning across all game genres.
• Knowledge and experience of gaming communities including but not limited to Discord.
• Knowledge of different types of cheating methods to recognize and correct those who attempt to violate the spirit of the competitions
• Thorough knowledge of rules and experience teaching basic ESports skills.
