Job Description

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Mission Advancement, the Executive Director of Annual Giving assumes responsibility for driving the Association’s annual campaign objectives and procuring grant funds to bolster cause-driven services and programming. Key responsibilities encompass a spectrum of activities, including volunteer and staff training, campaign performance evaluation, provision of requisite tools and volunteer support to centers for goal attainment, and overall campaign oversight. The director collaborates closely with the Association’s grant writer to actively pursue and secure community-based grants at the local level. Within this framework, the Director fosters synergy with Center Executive Directors to deliver their center campaign targets. This involves cultivating relationships within local communities to expand the pool of major donors and enhance board diversity and development. In tandem with devising strategic plans and communications, the Director devises processes for effective relationship management and stewardship. Furthermore, seamless coordination with finance, accounting, and data management functions is integral to ensuring the integrity of the donor database and associated processes.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university in business, non-profit management, public relations or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in grant writing and grant management, with extensive knowledge of grant application processes.
  • Ability to adapt and work under pressure in a rapidly changing, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to coordinate, monitor and manage individual and group progress against goals.
  • Excellent time management, prioritizing, and organization skills.
  • Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective individual goals and take ownership for results.
  • Proven ability to work within specific time constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making.
  • Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
  • Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, customer service/tracking applications) with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
Essential Functions
  • With direction from the SVP and based on approved association and center goals, leads the design and delivery of the annual giving campaign, including staff gifts, board gifts, major gifts, community gifts, online campaigns and related elements (donor recognition, thank you letters, etc.).
  • With direction from the SVP aligns campaign messaging with the Y’s cause and strategic plan priorities.
  • Directly supports Center Executives to manage center campaigns with tools and solution based outcomes.
  • Works with finance/accounting/data management ensuring the receipting of contributed revenues are according to approved practices and data integrity processes are followed. Through indirect supervision of the development support staff, ensures thank you letters/acknowledgements, stewardship is consistent and meaningful.
  • Leads efforts to celebrate campaign successes and recognize volunteers and staff accordingly.
  • Creates and implements the necessary volunteer and staff financial development trainings with an emphasis on effective face-to-face solicitation.
  • Provides leadership to development staff members to create and maintain meaningful and impactful relationships with the members, program participants, volunteers and community leaders.
  • Provide plan and communications support for recruitment, relationship management, and stewardship (Annual Campaign, Board, Committee Volunteers and Major donors).
  • Will drive the enhancement of our development capacity in accordance with our Strategic Plan.
  • Responsible to create and ensure delivery of all annual campaign materials, solicitation and acknowledgement letters and mass communications, including e-communications and direct mail.
Required Certifications
  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration.
  • Maintain other required certifications as stated in the training matrix.
