ABOUT THE POSITION:Oversees food service and food service team. Assist with preparation, service, and cleanup of school breakfast and/or lunch program. Able to execute a positive environment that produces an enjoyable school food service experience for students, staff, and team members.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Delegate and participate in food preparation in according to menu, recipe, and correct portion sizes as mandated by the production records.• Ensure student meal requirements for reimbursable meals are being met.• Process all necessary paperwork associated with the cafeteria operation such as food orders, processing of invoices, charging meals in Café Enterprise POS software, and daily/monthly reports.• Accurately calculate quantities of food for preparing and serving meals to keep minimal waste.• Ensure/Oversee sanitation and cleaning of the kitchen on a daily basis.• Examine all shipments received for accuracy and freshness.• Examine and organize food inventory daily to ensure proper rotation of stock to prevent food waste(FIFO system).• Maintain required documentation for government commodities.• Responsible for training new employees on all areas of the kitchen, required documentation, and sanitation/safety requirements.• Collaborate with Food Service Manager to develop cycle menu.• Responsible for creating and submitting weekly orders (food, produce, milk, and bread) to approved designated providers.• Ensure compliance of the School Breakfast & National Lunch Program, the Department of Agriculture, and the standards/policies of York Academy.
• Maintain organization and adequate quantities of all disposables and non-food supplies.
• Maintain entries of pre and post production records in Primero Edge software.
• Professionally interact with students, staff, parents, and head of school, always promoting participation in the food service program and positive environment while always maintaining confidentiality.
• Perform daily kitchen walk-thru to ensure equipment and facility compliance
• Responsible for completion of kitchen team’s annual evaluation and submitting them to the Food Service Manager
• Comply with all District polices, board policies, and all applicable laws.
• Maintain ServeSafe Certification and complete 10 hours training annually required by the USDA
• Attend all required meetings at the request of the Kitchen Manager of Food Service manager.
• Perform other duties reasonably related to the Food Service function as assigned by the Food Service Manager or Head of School
• Support York Academy’s school goals, objectives, and mission statement.
