DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation Operations, Facilities is responsible for assisting the Director of Athletics and Recreation Operations with the management and operation of the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center (GSFC) and all other campus Athletics & Recreation facilities. OUTCOMES:
Effective management of well-maintained, efficiently-operating, safe/secure Athletics and Recreation facilities.
Thoughtful guidance and evaluation of practicum students.
Effective fostering of a safe and positive environment for workers and users of Athletics and Recreation facilities.
Facility Oversight 40%
Assist in managing customer service concerns, policy development/enforcement/education, and facility access.
Assist in managing the functionality and upkeep of Athletics & Recreation facilities and connected equipment.
Manage the operation of the GSFC equipment/laundry room.
Jointly oversee risk management for Athletics & Recreation facilities, including, but not limited to: emergency action plans, accident and incident reports, training standards, access/alarm/paging/disinfection systems, opening and closing procedures, security and safety checks, and inspections.
Personnel Oversight 60%
Assist in the hiring of student employees who serve in support roles for Athletics & Recreation facility operations.
Lead the training/development, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of student employees in support roles for Athletics & Recreation facility operations.
Lead the assignment, training/development, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of all Sport Management practicum students working to earn academic credit in support roles for Athletics & Recreation facility operations.
Assist in monitoring all Athletics & Recreation facility operations payroll.
Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.
Two years of experience in facility and personnel supervision.
American Red Cross CPR/AED and basic first aid certifications.
Ability to work effectively in a collegiate setting with enrolled and prospective students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni and the greater college community.
Ability to manage and coordinate departmental programs and services.
Excellent organization, communication (verbal, interpersonal, and written), attention to detail, and customer relations skills.
