You Work, I'll play is Hiring a Pet Care Associate Near Asheville, NC

You Work, I'll Play, a well established dog daycare, boarding, grooming and training facility in Asheville, NC. We take pride in being the best and safest dog facility in town. At YWIP, Safety is ALWAYS #1! The first and most important quality we are searching for is someone who LOVES dogs!!! You must also enjoy cleaning and cleanliness because we maintain a spotlessly clean and odorless facility. Please make sure you are in town and available to work holidays, including Spring Break. Holiday time off will be granted via a sign up volunteer sheet for shifts. We try our hardest to give you time off to spend with your family, but please know the holidays are our busiest time of the year and it’s “all hands on deck”.

We are looking for Full Time, Part Time people and Weekend employees. We can work with you on availability depending on your schedule, however some weekends are required for everyone in the company.

We pay substantially higher wages than anyone else in the dog industry in the area. $15.00 - $17.50/hour based on experience!

Must be at least 16 years old, have reliable transportation (own vehicle) and be available to work weekends and ALL holidays, including Holidays.

Job Responsibilities Include:

Care of Dogs:

  • Have experience or be willing to learn dog behavior, aggression and pack dynamics/management
  • Evaluate dogs for placement in play groups
  • Monitoring and interacting with dogs in playgroups using appropriate toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play and minimizing stress levels of all dogs in playgroups.
  • Control level of play by following dog management and control procedures and instructions provided by Owner and Manager
  • Use proper handling techniques, proper dog introduction procedures, appropriate praise and correction methods
  • Closely monitor and keep full all dog water supplies
  • Watch all dogs carefully and immediately consult with Owner and Manager about concerns, uncertainties, unusual behaviors
  • Manage feeding and care procedures for all dogs
  • Assist in bathing, drying and other general grooming needs of dogs

Cleaning:

  • Follow cleaning procedures
  • Immediately clean any dog messes made indoors
  • Poop scoop indoors and outdoors
  • Filling mop buckets and taking out trash according to schedule
  • Scrubbing floors, walls, kennels and crates
  • Washing and folding laundry, scrubbing dog dishes
  • Clean outdoor playground and front walking area according to procedure
  • General cleaning of facility, included but not limited to: bathrooms, lobby, break room, windows, vacuuming, wiping down walls, etc.
  • Power washing facility, cleaning and disinfecting crates, play areas and outdoor area

Office/Customer Service:

  • Greet customers upon arrival and departure with a friendly and professional attitude
  • Carefully remove dogs from group for check out.
  • Communicate dog behavior and issues to your team leads or the Executive Team.

Additional duties as assigned

There is the opportunity for the person in this position to promote within the company to senior staff leads or management positions, which come with higher pay.

Required Skills:

  • Prefer someone with experience working with dogs and managing a pack of dogs
  • Must be punctual and show up for your shifts! Tardiness and absenteeism are not tolerated!
  • Responsible, able to multitask, have good time management skills, and be a fast learner
  • must be a strong, confident pack leader
  • must enjoy working with dogs and have no fear of dogs jumping, barking, growling, biting or any other common dog behavior
  • know or be willing to learn how to identify aggressive or dominant behavior and be willing to immediately break up a dog fight and secure dogs in safe, individual areas
  • strong desire for order and cleanliness
  • strong attention to detail
  • strong communication skills and ability to understand “the customer is always right”
  • ability to have open communication with Owner and Manager
