The YMCA Group Fitness Instructor role is more than a job and is a critical role at the YMCA. A Fitness Instructor teaches youth and adults exercise techniques to be safe and have fun in a group workout setting. In the exercise studio we have a passion for having a positive impact on all wellness journeys.
Our goal in the YMCA healthy living program is to provide kids and adults with a safe, fun space in the studio to thrive. The Group Fitness Instructor will teach safe and healthy movement and provide options for all fitness levels and abilities.
Scheduled exercise classes may include; Kickboxing, Weight Lifting, High Intensity Intervals, Cycling, Dance, Yoga and Meditation, Water Exercise and more class types!

The salary for this position starts at $15.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

The Group Fitness Instructor instructs quality group fitness classes, provides excellent customer service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

This position reports to the Program Manager who reports to the Director of Healthy Living. The incumbent works closely with the other PT instructors, supervisor, member services, and building/maintenance staff. The incumbent should address members by name and encourage participation in activities.
