Job Summary

The goal of the Community Immigrant and Refugee Services Program is to build a community where people have access to the necessary basic resources. Our commitment is to serve, help and inform the community with the most recent changes in immigration law and general topics so they know their legal rights and options of relief.

The Adult ELL Coordinator is responsible for coordinating YWCA Rock County English Language Learning opportunities. The ELL Coordinator will support adult learners and volunteer teachers as well as work with community partners.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage ELL program logistics.
  • Create program schedule.
  • Coordinate with community partners to maintain appropriate space for classes.
  • Recruit adult learners.
  • Conduct learner registration.
  • Help learners complete registration forms.
  • Administer placement tests for new learners.
  • Offer community and educational referrals, as needed.
  • Recruit volunteer teachers.
  • Onboard volunteer teachers.
  • Review volunteer applications.
  • Orient new volunteers to program policies.
  • Provide training to new volunteer teachers.
  • Provide ongoing support and instructional materials to active volunteer teachers.
  • Be available to answer questions and help volunteers manage situations as they arrive.
  • Maintain program records.
  • Store learner registration forms and assessment records.
  • Store tutor applications.
  • Collect, record, and maintain program data, including:
  • Instructional hours
  • Volunteer hours
  • Learner attendance
  • Evaluate programming.
  • Assess learner progress throughout the program year.
  • Collect tutor and learner feedback.
  • Continually assess community partnerships and areas for growth.
  • Teach community based, multi-level ELL classes, as needed.

Supervisor

Community Immigrant and Refugee Services Specialist

Hours

Morning and Evening Hours, maximum of approximately 25 hours per week, hours fluctuate based on ELL curriculum. No scheduled hours in June and under 25 hours per week scheduled in May, July and August.

Compensation

NON-EXEMPT. 0.50 FTE. Hourly with part time benefits

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of work experience working with immigrants and/or English language learners
  • Minimum 1-3 years experiences with program management and/or training
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English; verbal and written form.
  • Detail-oriented with good communication, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to develop a team approach with staff, volunteers and community partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
  • Ability to be self-directed and flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multilingual and multicultural environment
  • Proven ability to effectively manage concurrent tasks and prioritize
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills
