Organizational Profile:

Founded in the late 1970s, Redwoods Rural Health Center, a vital community practice, serves the whole community, with a focus on low-income and disadvantaged populations, in providing medical, dental, chiropractic/acupuncture, behavioral and perinatal care to a small, diverse, rural community, regardless of its patients’ ability to pay. The region provides easy access to local rivers, forested mountains, pristine beaches, Napa wineries, the Bay Area and boasts mild winters for year-round outdoor activities, including fishing, rafting, hiking, camping, surfing and biking.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will actively maintain and establish relationships with local, regional, state/federal partners, policy makers and funders, to positively impact the health and wellness of its patients in this remote and rural area. The ideal candidate will be able to strengthen the rural health landscape, by organizing, amplifying and developing opportunities for organizational growth in alignment with its mission and policies governed by the Board.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, managerial, staffing, administrative, strategic and operational oversight of the organization;

Identify health and social needs, through research, analysis and coordination efforts to address these needs through collaborative efforts with government, health and human service organizations;

Promote broad-based community awareness, acceptance of and participation within the organization’s health services offered;

Identify and pursue sources of continued revenue through grant, fundraising activities and development of services;

Oversee administration of funding including budget preparation and management, forecasting and preparing financial reports;

Act as a point of contact / liaison with the community, vendors, state, federal, grantors, media and other external agencies engaged to work with the organization;

Lead and attend meetings/training with internal staff and Board and maintain clear line of communication containing the most current information available in that regard;

Oversee preparation of Board meeting minutes, agendas and report generation;

Report regularly on current status, problems/issues and potential activities of the organization to the Board;

Analyze data and perform research and evaluation in connection thereof;

Manage staff, including recruitment, training, mentoring, conducting reviews, initiation of promotions/raises and disciplinary actions; work in conjunction with offsite external HR firm.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a health, human services, or business administration related discipline; Master’s Degree preferred;

At least 3 years of experience in an executive level leadership role within a similar position;

Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and/or Indian Health Center, strongly preferred;

Ability to create and manage budgets;

Proficiency in grant sourcing, writing;

Oversee staff recruiting, training, mentoring and disciplinary actions;

Computer savvy and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products and industry-related software applications; ability to learn new applications easily;

Experience with EHR (electronic health record) systems implementation;

Astute oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Exceptional time management, organizational, accuracy, multi-tasking, attention to detail, problem-solving and follow-through skills;

Ability to work effectively alone and within a collaborative team environment;

Valid CA driver’s license, clean and insurable driving record and reliable transportation to work. 

Compensation:

$204,943 - $287,039 annual base salary, DOE, for this full-time, exempt position.

Benefits:

403(b) retirement plan with an annual 4% company match, which vests 100% on start date;

12 days of annual paid vacation time during years 0 – 3, accrued at 0.04615 per hour and increasing incrementally thereafter;

50 hours of annual paid sick time allotted on start date and annually on the anniversary date;

7-8 annual paid public holidays, plus 1 floating paid holiday;

Up to 20 hours of paid time off annually for participating in voluntary 501 c(3) community programs;

Medical, dental, vision premiums paid 90% for employee and 55% for dependents; eligibility to enroll following 60 days of employment.

4 10-hour days per week.
