QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelors Degree in a Human Service Related Field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education or Criminal Justice).
• Previous experience with intended population required.
• Experience with public presentation and marketing preferred.
• Good writing and communication skills.
• Valid Drivers License required.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Regional Youth Intervention Specialist will work in collaboration with Prevent Suicide WV to implement a collaborative and coordinated suicide prevention and intervention strategy throughout the northern panhandle counties. The focus of the program is reducing youth suicidal ideation, suicide attempts and suicide deaths. Intervention Specialist will be responsible for working with collaborative partnerships across youth and young adult systems and agencies to make suicide prevention a core priority.
This employee will ensure compliance with safe work practices and maintain safe environments in compliance with established agency standards, licensing regulations and generally accepted practices.
TASKS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Increase access and availability of evidence-based prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery services in existing behavioral health centers;
• Provide for a referral system of preferential appointments for youth, subpopulations and their families; provide education and dissemination of EBP Materials;
• Incorporate comprehensive evidence-based protective measures that expand universal prevention messages of hope and help at the regional level;
• Improve identification, referral and engagement interventions for youth and transitioning youth aged 10-24;
• Increase the number of youth and youth-serving agencies implementing screening and gatekeeper trainings;
• Reduce the number of completed suicides and attempt survivors providing for protective, caring follow-up services for attempt survivors and their families;
• Build the capacity of organizations serving vulnerable sub-populations to effectively deliver coordinated care. The sub-populations recognized include: Lesbian Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgendered and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth; veterans and military families; juvenile services; survivors; attempt survivors; youth with mental health and substance abuse issues; and youth with developmental disabilities.
• Track required demographic, service and outcome data;
• Attend required training on evidence-based programming and train others on EBP;
• Attend required project and agency meetings.
• Obtain consumer feedback for services rendered and information received to inform and improve service accessibility and delivery (e.g. focus groups, surveys, key-informant interview);
• Share results of consumer feedback annually with stakeholders, partners, and the BBHHF;
• Provide education and disseminate Evidenced-Based Practice (EBP) materials in schools, juvenile services, and additional agencies serving at-risk youth.

Pay: $17.00 per hour
