Summary: YouthBuild Preparatory Academy (YBPA) is committed to nurturing a liberating, inclusive, and equitable learning environment that empowers our students to excel both academically and personally. As the inaugural Community Development Academy Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Community Development program. You will guide students through a curriculum designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to earn their certification in Community Development. This includes instruction in areas such as community development, non-profit management, housing and development skills, and sustainable economic and community development. Your leadership and expertise will inspire and empower students to become impactful community leaders and change-makers, dedicated to fostering positive social and economic transformations within their communities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a curriculum that integrates academic content with hands-on community development projects.
• Facilitate project-based learning experiences that encourage students to identify and address social determinants within their communities.
• Mentor and support students in developing leadership skills and civic engagement.
• Collaborate with community partners to provide students with meaningful project opportunities.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to guide their development and learning.
• Create a classroom environment that promotes inclusivity, respect, and a sense of community.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in community development and project-based learning.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure alignment between the community development curriculum and our school's unique educational model.
