Summary:
At YouthBuild Preparatory Academy (YBPA), we endeavor to create a liberating, inclusive, and equitable learning environment that empowers our students to excel both academically and personally. In this context, the Teacher Assistant is not just a conventional assistant but a catalyst for change. As an integral part of our team, the CTE- Construction will support the Facilitator of Learning in developing lessons that respect and honor our students' experiences, promoting a culture of mutual respect and high expectations. The role is designed to foster independent, creative problem-solving skills in our students, thus redefining the traditional teaching model and aiding in the actualization of our students' full potential.

Responsibilities:
1. Instruct and guide scholars in the fundamental skills, techniques, and safety practices in construction.
2. Coordinate and supervise real-world construction projects, ensuring that students apply the learned skills effectively.
3. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate construction instruction with academic curricula.
4. Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that embraces diversity and promotes mutual respect.
5. Encourage students to work collaboratively, demonstrating teamwork and communication skills.
6. Use student data to inform instruction, ensuring individual learning needs are met.
7. Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the learning community within the school.
8. Participate in staff meetings and actively engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Common Planning Time (CPT) to collaboratively achieve common goals influencing student achievement.
9. Engage families and community partners to support student learning.
10. Prioritize the creation and maintenance of a respectful, collaborative learning environment.
11. Commit to eliminating student proficiency gaps and improving overall student achievement.

Job Requirements:
1. Proven experience in the construction industry, particularly in residential construction.
2. Previous instructional experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
3. Ability to demonstrate and teach a range of construction skills.
4. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.
5. Commitment to the philosophy and mission of YouthBuild Preparatory Academy.
6. Current B.C.I.
7. Bilingual applicants are strongly preferred.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
9. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
