As a High Risk Advocate you will act as a liaison with Police Departments; provide services to victims of domestic violence; to include providing crisis intervention, and identifying high risk clients; data collection of the High Risk Response Teams; provide educational activities, and training presentations to the community arenas with a specific focus on high risk prevention; establishing a process of changing the attitudes and beliefs of the community with activities designed to actively promote healthy, non-violent relationships and addressing the factors that condone intimate partner violence with a consistent and systemic approach. A valid driver’s license is required. This position will be based out of our Worcester office and the Worcester Police Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide crisis intervention services, individual and group advocacy to victims of domestic violence in the community and/or agency
• Work closely with Victim Advocates and DA’s office to foster a seamless web of support
• Provide assistance and/or referral with restraining orders, assistance with petitions such as elder abuse and child abuse; advocacy for victims at any stage of the criminal justice process; post sentencing services and support.
• Enter and maintain data outcomes for various funders
• Assessment of participants’ needs and for high risk
• Assist participants with adapting and developing a safety plan
• Maintain principles of confidentiality
• Provide consultation to police departments as needed for High Risk cases
• Participate in the Worcester High Risk Team meetings
• Provide outreach services to clients referred from SAFEPLAN and Court Advocates
• Provide and answer hotline calls as needed
• Participate in the YWCA’s CCRN
• Maintain written documentation for participant records per policy
• Collect and maintain required monthly statistics
• Attend agency meetings and in-service training, as required
• Participate in agency trainings, meetings, and community education presentations
• Develop and maintain community resource contacts
• Adhere to all YWCA Central Massachusetts Domestic Violence Services Policies and Procedures
• Other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager/Director

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Services
• Knowledge of domestic violence and/or family violence and related issues such as substance abuse and mental health, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, community development, and education
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and team members
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality
• Empathetic, non-judgmental and active listening skills
• Ability to assess and intervene in crisis situations
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Organized; innovative
• Knowledge of community resources
• Excellent computer skills required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.58 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends
