YWCA of St. Joseph is Hiring a Child and Family Interventionist Near Saint Joseph, MO

Job Title: Child & Family Interventionist

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Survivor Support Services Director

Job Purpose

Provide trauma-informed professional intervention services to children and families residing in Shelter and/or Bliss Manor.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide interventions to children who have directly experienced or witnessed domestic/sexual violence using trauma-informed methods.
  • Provide interventions to the non-offending parent, as appropriate.
  • Assist with age-appropriate safety planning.
  • Meet with the parent to provide professional feedback regarding progress and or concerns about their child or children.
  • Facilitate children/family psychosocial groups in Shelter and/or Bliss Manor.
  • Facilitate parenting classes and coach parents in methods of non-violent discipline and positive parenting skills.
  • Provide training to shelter staff on how to manage child behavioral issues.
  • Adhere to established professional ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and continuing professional development.
  • Provide information to crime victims regarding the Crime Victims Compensation Program and provide assistance with filing claims as needed.
  • Document all services provided and enter information into the database within 3 days of service provision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records in accordance with MOCADSV Service Standards.
  • Conduct professional training regarding domestic and sexual violence to community, law enforcement, and/or service providers, as assigned.
  • Maintain required statistics and complete reports as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or relevant experience.
  • Experience providing intervention services to children and families.
  • Experience working with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Basic computer skills needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to relate to diverse populations.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Must be able to pass State Child Abuse/Neglect screening & and Criminal Background Check.

Working Conditions

  • Forty (40) hour workweek, extended hours may be required to meet client needs and/or deadlines.
  • Employee works in an office environment and is protected from weather conditions and contaminants.
  • Some evenings may be required based on client needs and business demand.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing or sitting for long periods, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.
  • Repetitive hand motion (such as typing)
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform activities requiring cooperation, instruction, persuasion, or speaking with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person with consumers.
