Job Description:
1. General Description
Assists Director of Food Services with all operational and administrative aspects of Food Service as well as providing support to work as Sous Chef or Chef’s Assistant as needed.
2. Reporting Relationship
The Kitchen Manager reports to the Director of Food Services.
3. Supervises
The Kitchen Manager will supervise all other food service staff, clients, volunteers or interns in the kitchen to ensure food is stored, prepared and served per guidelines.
4. Responsibilities and Essential Function
- Assists in creating menu’s, ordering, stocking and organizing kitchen and food storage areas by properly accepting deliveries or processing donation.
- Ensures that food inventory is properly rotated and cycled according to State Health Department guidelines and standards while best utilizing with as little waste as possible.
- Has knowledge and ability to perform cooking techniques using various types of kitchen equipment and tools.
- Performs, supervises or directs all duties in all areas of the kitchen including scheduled cleaning activities.
- Reports immediately when accidents or incidents occur to Director of Food Services. Completes accident/incident report.
- Assists in maintaining records to be kept in the kitchen, training of clients and volunteers. Prints attendance records, Community Contribution Assignment lists and schedules as needed.
- Cooks according to the menu, maintains recipes for food cooked and helps develop uses for surplus inventory as needed.
- Supervises food service staff following CACFP Guidelines and correctly serving and portioning food.
- Assists in data collection and processing for Grant reporting using Excel.
- Maintains and supervises Food Service staff to follow YWCA policies and procedures.
- Helps to stock, organize, rotate and order a la carte items.
- Fills shifts when Sous Chef or Chef’s Assistant are absent.
- Oversees operations when Director of Food Services is not available, works weekends and some holidays.
- Completes other duties as required.
