Job Title Outside Sales
Reports To Store Manager
Location Status Exempt
“UNCAPPED COMMISSION STRUCTURE”
Join Zarsky Lumber Company as an Outside Sales Associate and take charge of sales opportunities with builders, developers, and contractors. Your key responsibilities include establishing and nurturing relationships with a customer base of 15–30 clients, identifying target customers, making calls, visiting job sites, and providing timely project assistance. This role demands strong sales techniques, commitment follow-through, and excellent communication skills.
General Overview We seek a qualified individual with a minimum of 5 years of selling experience in building materials or a related field to manage and expand our account base. The ideal candidate will possess extensive product knowledge and excel in oral and written communication, capable of presenting and negotiating large deals in group settings.
Compensation During the initial 6 months, enjoy a semi-monthly salary rate. Afterward, transition to a 100% commission-based structure, calculated from gross profit dollars of assigned accounts. Benefit from a monthly car allowance, along with reimbursement for limited cell phone and business expenses.

Role & Duties
- Exceed annual sales goals.
- Prospect for new business within the trade area.
- Manage existing accounts to ensure ongoing business activity.
- Ensure customer service levels surpass expectations.
- Sales & Relationship Building
- Identify target customers.
- Build and maintain customer and vendor relationships.
- Provide ongoing service to current customers.
- Read blueprints and stay updated on customer product use and trends.
- Sell lumber and building material.
- Create estimates, special orders & invoices.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through assistance with take-offs and communication of scheduling and delivery commitments.
- Travel to local job sites.
- Communication
- Keep communication open between internal and external customers.
- Keep the store manager informed of new opportunities and concerns.
- Knowledge & Training
- Identify personal growth needs and learning opportunities.
- Commit to continuous learning on products and procedures.
- Aggressively learn the Point of Sales system (BisTrack).
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate degree in construction, design, or related fields (preferred).
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of sales experience in lumber material.
- Ability to read blueprints and compile material take-offs.
- Understanding of construction practices.
- Knowledgeable of industry forecasting and account management.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Familiarity with the BisTrack System is a plus.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook email, and QuickBook).
- Strong telephone skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Customer focus and excellent communication skills.
