Position Overview:

As a Senior Compliance Manager at Zenni, you will spearhead our efforts to ensure rigorous adherence to labor laws and regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and resolve complex employee-related legal issues, ensuring our practices align with both legal requirements and best practices in employee relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise management on legal matters pertaining to labor and employment law, including changes in regulations and potential risks.
  • Manage external labor law counsel as necessary.
  • Compliance with eCommerce Laws: Ensure that the eCommerce website complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations concerning online business operations, including consumer protection, digital marketing, and online payment processing.
  • Data Privacy and Security: Oversee the implementation of data protection strategies compliant with GDPR, CCPA, or other relevant data protection regulations. Ensure proper handling, storage, and processing of customer data to safeguard privacy and trust.
  • Develop and review company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Provide training and guidance to HR and management on labor law issues.
  • Monitor and report on developments in labor law and recommend proactive strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Labor Law Compliance: Act as the company's leading expert on all matters pertaining to labor law, including but not limited to wage and hour laws, workplace safety, anti-discrimination practices, and union interactions. Stay abreast of legislative changes and ensure proactive adjustments to company policies and procedures.
  • Policy Development and Revision: Craft, review, and refine policies to ensure they are clear, effective, and compliant with all labor laws. This includes developing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure ethical practices in all employee interactions.
  • Audits and Monitoring: Conduct thorough audits of HR and operational practices to ensure alignment with all applicable laws. Implement regular monitoring schedules to identify potential compliance issues before they escalate.
  • Investigations and Resolutions: Oversee investigations into complaints and allegations of non-compliance with labor laws. Ensure issues are resolved in a timely and legally compliant manner, with an emphasis on maintaining a fair and respectful workplace.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of compliance activities, including any issues identified and steps taken to resolve them. Report regularly to senior management on compliance initiatives and the status of any ongoing issues.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with HR and legal departments to ensure a cohesive approach to labor law compliance across the organization. Act as a liaison with external regulatory bodies as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) focusing on labor law is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in a compliance role with a specific focus on labor law and employee relations. Experience in conducting workplace investigations and handling labor disputes is essential.
  • Certifications: Professional certification in labor law compliance (e.g., Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP)) is preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional knowledge of labor regulations and legal compliance frameworks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of handling sensitive issues with integrity and confidentiality.

Work Environment:

  • This position is office-based with typical working hours but may require additional hours and travel based on the company's operational needs and compliance activities.

In addition to other forms of compensation like perks and benefits, the estimated range for this role is $128,281- $234,256. The final offer will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skill set, experience, geographical location, market conditions, and other organizational needs. The Company reserves the right to change, modify, or revisit the salary range for various reasons including business needs.
