Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Validation Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Validation Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our EV fast chargers through rigorous testing and validation processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on validation methodologies and experience in the automotive or power electronics industry.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive validation plans for electrical systems and components of EV fast chargers for both firmware and hardware level, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements and customer request.
  • Design and conduct validation tests to assess the performance, functionality, and safety of EV charging systems, including power distribution, circuitry, and control modules.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software engineers, and product managers, to identify validation requirements and drive continuous improvement in product quality.
  • Analyze test data and identify areas for improvement or optimization in product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings in detailed reports, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on validation-related aspects to ensure designs meet performance and reliability targets.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, standards (J1772, J3400, DIN70121, ISO15118, OCPP1.6J and OCPP2.0.1), and emerging technologies related to EV charging systems and electrical validation methodologies.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical validation, preferably in the automotive or power electronics industry.
  • Proficiency in electrical testing and measurement techniques, including familiarity with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power analyzers.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuitry, power distribution systems, and control systems.
  • Experience with software tools for test automation and data analysis (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python) preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electrical safety and compliance (e.g., UL, IEC, NEC) is a plus.
  • Physical requirement: must be able to lift up to 50lbs during validation testing.

This is a fully onsite position located in Fremont, CA; Monday- Friday from 10 am to 7 pm.
