Zimbrick is Hiring an Automotive Workshop Production Manager Near Madison, WI

What You Will Do

Assign/Dispatch repair orders to technicians in a fair and equitable manner based on skill level, RO instructions, degree of difficulty, customer requests, promised time and source of work in accordance with dealership policy. Manage work in progress and maintain control of work flow in the workshop. Drive efficiencies and productivity in the shop to maximize output.

Periodically check with technicians and on work progress and advise Shop Foreman or Technician Educator if assistance is necessary. Review hard copies turned in by technicians to ensure that assigned work has been completed properly. Ensure technicians complete the multi-point vehicle inspection forms/videos. Perform final quality inspection prior to delivery of the vehicle to customer if required.

Coordinate parts requirements with the Parts Department.

Manage the new and used vehicle process for the service department, dispatching to workshop, repair order creation/completion, tracking worksheet and hand off to prep dept.

Manage the body shop work for the service department, dispatching to workshop, repair order creation/completion, tracking worksheet and communication with body shop.

Act as a liaison to Zimbrick Hyundai's fleet customers, coordinating service pick and delivery, vehicle needs, dispatching to workshop, repair order creation/completion, and tracking worksheets.

Act as a liaison between service advisors, sales departments and technicians by keeping everyone updated with the progress of the work, suggested additional work, parts and sublet delays and expected completion times.

Maintain knowledge of all applicable warranty policies to ensure that warranty repairs, documentation, and procedures are handled in accordance with the established manufactures guidelines.

Monitor the repair procedures of the technicians to ensure that proper safety standards are being followed. Take an active part in providing a safe work environment for all employees. Assist in keeping shop area clean, safe, and free of debris and other hazards.

Meet with Advisors at the end of each day and review all of the open repair orders. Advise the Advisors of the status of every repair order and prioritize the jobs for the next work day.

Give management continual feedback concerning the performance of each technician. Provide the Service and Parts Director with constructive feedback for monthly and bi-annual employee performance appraisals.

Oversee sublet repairs and the vendors performing these repairs. Verify the quality of work and the vendor’s compliance to company policies.

Meet or report to management at least once a week on any below:

  1. Each technician's performance vs. objectives
  2. Personnel problems that may be developing
  3. Safety and environmental issues
  4. Shop equipment and facility maintenance
  5. Report any sublet concerns
  6. Report any quality control issues

Additional responsibilities and duties may be necessary based on the needs of the business.
