Position Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our kitchen team as a Porter/Dishwasher. The Porter/Dishwasher plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations by assisting with dishwashing, food prep, cleanliness, and organization. Key Responsibilities:

• Dishwashing:
• Wash and sanitize dishes, flatware, pots, and pans using hand-washing methods.
• Inspect dishes for cleanliness and ensure they meet sanitation standards before being stored.
• Food Preparation:
• Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, and portioning.
• Measure and assemble ingredients according to recipe specifications and portion sizes.
• Assist team with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
• Store Organization and Maintenance:
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas in accordance with food safety standards.
• Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
• Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of store exterior and interior, including windows, surrounding tile, and sidewalk area.
• Stock Management:
• Assist management in receiving, reviewing and storing deliveries of food and kitchen supplies.
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
• Rotate stock according to FIFO (First In, First Out) and properly label and date all food items to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Assistance During Service:
• Support kitchen staff during peak service hours by replenishing ingredients, restocking supplies, and assisting with the creation of entrees.
• Coordinate with counter staff and cooks to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food orders.
• Handle special requests and dietary restrictions with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adherence to Standards:
• Follow food safety and sanitation regulations at all times, including proper handling and storage of food products.
• Adhere to kitchen policies and procedures regarding cleanliness, safety, and hygiene.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the kitchen team.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
• Experience with basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment is a plus.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate a plus or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment
• Skills:
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Pay: From $18.00- 22.00 per hour based on experience
