Zoom Technology Arizona is a closed-access fiber network provider. We deploy Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network infrastructure nationwide in specific neighborhoods and Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB). PURPOSE FOR THE ROLE

A Field Service Technician is responsible for following up on fiber installations and preparing and troubleshooting fiber optic cables and systems. The ideal candidate should be able to design optical paths and passive optical networks. Should also understand the types of cables, cable color codes, and other cabling techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to install, fusion splice, test, and troubleshoot both Single Mode Fiber and Multi-Mode Fiber efficiently with minimal supervision
• Read and interpret splice details and complete as-built docs accordingly
• Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, analysis, and repair on new and active fiber optic networks
• Engage in network planning, fiber splicing scheduling, and closeout activities
• Assist with additional fiber network construction activities before splicing and closeout
• Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings, and/or cut sheets to determine work to be done in a sequence of task
• Perform loose tube and ribbon splicing in accordance with industry standards and customer specifications
• Conduct splice testing using power meters, OTDRs, and other industry-standard equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years experience as a Field Technician or related role
• Must have a valid Arizona driver's license and a clean record
• Transferable experience in fiber optics or related fields; electronics or other outside plant (OSP)
• Safely use hand and small power tools
• Knowledge of and ability to follow NESC and other state and local safety conditions are a must
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency with EXFO 715 OTDR or newer version and interpreting results
• Performs testing with EXFO or similar power meter
• Ability to multi-task and effective problem-resolution skills
• Experience in Telecommunications, Internet Service Provider, or Wireless industry is a plus.
• Fluent in Spanish or other languages is a plus (multilingual or bilingual)
