I am partnered with a large global pharmaceutical company, headquartered in Germany in search of someone to lead their Human Genetics team. This person will lead a global team focused on Genomics-Driven Drug Discovery across multi-therapeutic areas.
The role requires a PhD alongside extensive industry experience in statistical genetics or a related field, along with strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills. The Head will shape genomic strategies, drive technological advancements, and cultivate external partnerships to accelerate the development of innovative therapeutics.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the (global) Statistical Genetics team, driving the development of novel therapeutic concepts across multiple disease areas.
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary group comprising experts in genomics, disease biology, machine learning, and animal health genomics.
- Focus on strengthening core genomic capabilities and infrastructure, pioneering technological advancements, and ensuring scalable analyses that host large-scale human biobank data.
- Spearhead the adoption and implementation of advanced methodologies to position the team at the forefront of technological innovation and translational research.
- Lead external collaborations with CROs and academic institutions while representing the organization in large scale partnerships.
- Ensure scientific excellence and accelerate the translation of genetic findings into therapeutic applications.
- Effectively communicate complex methodologies and research outcomes to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring clarity and accessibility for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, Genetic Epidemiology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong expertise in statistical genetics, genomics, and their applications in disease research.
- Over five years of industry experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting, with a focus on disease translation. Additionally, possess 2-5 years of leadership experience in managing teams and projects.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire and apply new knowledge effectively, adapt to evolving research landscapes, and drive innovation.
- Proven expertise in fostering collaborative work environments, managing stakeholder relationships, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results within defined timelines.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts and their implications to diverse audiences, including non-specialist stakeholders.
