The Opportunity
We now seeking a Senior Lead Engineer to join our System Integrity team.
The role of Senior Lead Engineer will support the System Integrity is responsible for ensuring the secure, resilient operation of the power system by ensuring that the necessary Protection systems are in place. The primary role of the Protection team in System Integrity is to specify, set, coordinate and monitor the performance of protection schemes used on the 400 kV, 220 kV & 110 kV transmission networks and on all interfaces with the transmission network.
The Team
The Operations and Asset Management Office is central to the delivery of our primary role – the operation, development and enhancement of the power system and the wholesale electricity market. The Office is also responsible for the sustainable implementation of transmission system and market development to meet the future needs of all users of electricity.
The System Integrity function manages a wide range of technical functions. The function is responsible for Power System Protection, Transmission and Generator outage planning, Revenue Metering for transmission connected generation and the controlled introduction of new and recently maintained plant to the power system. The work of the function is critical to enabling EirGrid to operate a safe, secure power system, facilitate the maintenance of transmission and generation assets, to facilitate system development and the connection/commissioning of new customer connections. The function closely supports the real time and near time operational activities in the National Control Centre.
About you
Successful candidates will have the following:

Electrical/Electronic engineering degree with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in the electricity/energy sector and demonstrated experience in and knowledge of the theory and application of power system protection.

Experience and competence in carrying out power system modelling and analysis (to support protection setting and co-ordination) using the DigSilent Power Factory analysis ( or equivalent) tool .

Knowledge of protection technology and protection scheme design/configuration with Experience on Protection Devices and associated configuration software from ABB/Hitachi, Siemens, and Toshiba OEMS.

Experience of protection testing and fault investigation.

Excellent Technical, Mathematical, MS Excel and MS Access skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability and excellent attention to detail

Ability to work collaboratively with Customers and Stakeholders

Full driving license.

Have experience leading complex technical projects involving engagement with multiple stakeholders

Proven experience mentoring and leading junior members of a team.

Continuously seek out ways to improve processes to work more efficiently, while making it more transparent and easier to understand for both technical and non-technical audiences

Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
