About 19th Judicial District Court
The Nineteenth Judicial District Court is one of Louisiana’s 43 judicial districts and has original jurisdiction of all civil and criminal matters in East Baton Rouge Parish. There are fifteen elected judges (Division A through Division O) in the 19th JDC.
About the role Coordinates the staffing process for the 19th Judicial District Court. Assists in the recruiting efforts and supports both new and existing employees. Primary focuses for this position include: recruitment; on-boarding and orientation of new staff; exit interviews and property return for departing staff; enforcement of 19th JDC employee policies; and addressing employee complaints. Performance is reviewed through conferences and results obtained. Performs other work as requested.
Location & commitments
- Office located within the 19th Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
- Full-time with a 35-hour work week
- Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Assists in maintaining a diverse, high-performance workforce by performing administrative duties related to recruitment, selection, hiring, placement and orientation.
- Communicates with all departments within the court to determine specific staffing needs.
- Works cooperatively with other staff members in the recruiting and interview processes.
- Coordinates and monitors hiring and employment documentation through an on-boarding process.
- Works cooperatively with other staff members in designing and implementing training programs for new hires and existing court employees.
- Exit interviews and return of court property from staff members upon voluntary or involuntary separation from employment with the court.
- Investigates allegations of employee misconduct and makes recommendations to the Judicial Administrator, Chief Judge, and HR Committee.
- Advises employees on court policies.
- Monitors any required certifications for Court Reporters and Staff Attorneys.
- Follows legislative and Supreme Court changes that impact requirements for personnel.
- Oversight of any externship programs of the court.
- Assistance with annual employee performance reviews.
- Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.
Candidate requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. At least three years of related experience required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred, but not required. Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, standards, and regulations pertaining to employee recruitment, performance evaluation, equal employment, and affirmative action.
