Our client is a vertically integrated real estate investment and management company of multifamily housing and is looking to hire a Vice President, Business Development of Property Management to lead and grow the Company’s third-party property management function. The Company’s portfolio is approximately 5,500 units and is located in numerous Northeast and Southeast markets. The Company has a 20 year history, and their strategy is focused on market rate and to double the portfolio within the next 36 months.

Role
Reporting directly to the firm’s Managing Director, the Vice President of Business Development, will lead the firm’s growth trajectory in the property management function. This position will be responsible for the development of 3rd party property management engagements and the strategic implementation of all property management initiatives within the business plan The Vice President of Business Development will work with the Company Partners to create and lead the successful execution of the stated financial, operational, and organizational goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have an established track record of sourcing and closing 3rd party property management business within multifamily property management and have the desire and ability to help grow an established Company’s property management business.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own the business development process for 3rd party property management assignments from start to finish: Identify and build relationships with potential prospects, generate and pursue leads, organize pitches, prepare and process responses to client requests for quotes, NDAs, Engagement Letters, and Statements of Work, manage client negotiations, close new business, and transition it to the appropriate team.
- Representing the firm to current and prospective clients, the Vice President, Business Development will be a personable, collaborative leader who embodies and promotes the firm’s services and culture to external parties and is a leader within the organization.
- Partner with the firm’s executive leadership to set goals for new business and revenue which align with overall company profitability. Provide ongoing progress updates on new business development activities and other key indicators to company leadership.
- Identify new business opportunities and target companies. Develop market intelligence and analysis on prospective targets and competitors. Partner with the executive team to identify channels that generate leads, expand the company’s presence, and ultimately win new business.
- Leverage existing relationships and create new ones to build the company’s brand and presence in the marketplace. At all times act as a representative of the company and its various services to drive business growth.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with owners/operators of third-party multifamily properties at various stages of their growth cycle, attend various events in the market, join multiple industry organizations and attend networking events to build and grow new relationships.
- Define and organize a process for pitching new business effectively. Lead in developing presentations and marketing materials for business development.
- Collaborate with company divisions including property management, investor relations, accounting and capital markets.
- Maintain comprehensive oversight of existing businesses. Conduct site inspections and monitor competition and market conditions; identify and recommend value-add action plans.
- Form a close relationship with property management personnel at all levels to successfully monitor the daily operations by conducting periodic site visits and inspections, discussing weekly leasing, occupancy, capex and/or renovation programs to maximize the profitability of each asset.
- Strong knowledge of multifamily property management processes and procedures, financial property reporting, annual business plans, annual budgeting and forecasting, and capital expenditures a plus.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of commercial real estate asset and/or property management, specifically for multifamily properties.
- Proven business development success in commercial real estate for 3rd party property management engagements. History of sourcing, negotiating and closing deals. Established network of multifamily owner/operators within the Northeast and MidAtlantic is a plus.
- Track record of building and maintaining positive, long-lasting relationships with prospective and existing clients, partners and colleagues.
- Flexible and able to adapt to change. Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with strong organization skills in day-to-day and long-term planning and execution. Ability to handle complex situations.
- Strong analytical, budget modeling and project scheduling skills. Detail-oriented while able to see big picture.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Strong multi-tasking, time management and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in computer software including Argus and MS Office. Self-sufficient in creating and delivering PowerPoint presentations.
- Ability to travel as needed.
