Job Description:
Client is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Accounting Clerk position. As BCPS transitions its ERP implementation to the fiscal module, this role will back-fill existing positions to support employees' efforts in the implementation process. The primary responsibility of the Accounting Clerk is to perform comprehensive general and accounting clerical duties in support of a program, department, or office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable: Receives, reviews, and processes invoices for various payable accounts. Resolves discrepancies involving purchase orders, invoices, receiving confirmations, invoice approvals, and purchase order verifications to ensure prompt payments to vendors.
- Reimbursements: Processes reimbursements for schools, travel, and mileage for employees, ensuring compliance with travel policies, rules, and procedures.
- Vendor Communication: Confers with schools, offices, and vendors to resolve issues and answer questions regarding invoices, purchase orders, and payments.
- Ledger and Journal Entries: Makes ledger and journal entries by exact amounts, dates, and accounts.
- Data Entry and System Management: Enters, retrieves, and compiles information using Advantage Financial and other automated information systems. Codes, enters, and retrieves information from automated databases and software.
- Document Review: Reviews, prepares, and processes records, forms, and documents according to established rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- General Office Duties: Prepares and processes work orders, requisitions, vouchers, invoices, journal entries, and other office forms. Organizes and maintains electronic and paper document filing systems.
- Reporting and Filing: Gathers information for reports and manages the distribution and filing of documents.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in an accounting or clerical role preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency with accounting software (Advantage Financial is preferred).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in accounting is a plus.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including schools, offices, and vendors.
