Quality Technician I - 3rd Shift

Job Summary:  

Quality Technician compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment, and products to technical specifications to identify defects and make repairs.

Responsibilities:

1.     Perform daily audits for all assembly lines throughout the shift per the documented audit sequence procedures.

2.     Analyze audit results weekly via the use of Access or other available computer databases and present chart(s) to teams, and Quality Leadership

3.     Follow up on repeat Quality issues with responsible teams to help brainstorm process or design improvements

4.     Lead or participate in special projects to develop or improve Quality policies, programs or activities

5.     Begin the communication process and initiate Product quarantines in the event of repeat serious issues found during the audits and lead product quarantine reworks, as needed

6.     Checks, tests, and inspects raw materials, goods in process, and finished goods

7.     Records results for technical reporting

8.     Can make repairs or modifications to defects

9.     Uses industrial machinery or hand tools to make repairs

Qualifications and Requirements:

·       Experience as a Quality Inspector required

·       Must have demonstrated sense of responsibility, leadership skills, and accuracy in performance of past and present job assignments

·       Dependability and attendance are significant factors in the requirements of the job

·       Ability to read and understand specifications and instructions

·       Must have strong communication skills and able to present material on one-to-one basis as well as to a group of your peers and/or management if needed

·       Demonstrated knowledge and skill level with software programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

·       Annual skills update training, as needed

·       Must be able to explain the intent of the Vidalia quality policies to peers and Vidalia Operations Team

·       Ability to read blueprints and product specifications

·       Strong attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

·        Perform tasks requiring hand and eye coordination, with good hand dexterity (gripping and pinching repetitively) for more than 2/3’s of work shift

·        Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 10 pounds continuously, 25 pounds repetitively and 50 pounds occasionally.  Lifting or carrying objects over 50 pounds requires a two person lift, or a lift assist

·        Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and/or stoop repetitively 6 to 8 hours per day

·        Reach overhead repetitively for more than 2/3’s of work shift

·        Stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours per day

·        Climb up and down stairs up to 3 hours per day

·        Use of senses to detect quality defects and unsafe conditions

·        Basic visual requirements for precision work

·        Moderate physical exertion
